A Canadian graduate student accepts a research assignment that takes her to Granada, Spain, even as she grapples with the mysterious disappearance of a friend while on holiday together in Istanbul. In a desperate effort to deal with recurring nightmares, the use of a Gypsy brew creates transportive dreams which take her to the Alhambra Palace in fifteenth-century Spain. During her transports, she witnesses the star-crossed love affair between a Moorish King's daughter and the son of a rival for the throne of Granada. Captivated by these events, she embarks on a dangerous gambit of seeking escape from the present by losing herself in the past.
Rooted in Spanish folklore, Dreams of the Alhambra is a tale of adventure and romance which weaves a fifteenth-century monarch's struggle to retain is crown with a present-day woman's struggle to cope with trauma.
