When research takes Canadian postgraduate student Mackenzie Douglas to Granada, Spain, she hopes distance will quiet the turmoil of the night her friend Copper disappeared in Istanbul—an event she can no longer fully remember. In these visions, Mackenzie steps into the life of Zahra, a Moorish princess whose forbidden love for Alonso—the son of her father’s sworn enemy—threatens to ignite a kingdom already on the brink. What begins as an escape soon becomes a refuge, pulling Mackenzie deeper into the past even as her grip on the present slips. And somewhere within the echoes of Zahra’s world lies the key to the truth Mackenzie has buried.
